Au-delà de “Say” et “Tell”, l’anglais utilise de nombreux verbes pour rapporter des paroles avec plus de précision (conseiller, suggérer, promettre, etc.).
1. Say vs Tell (Rappel)
- Say (+ to someone) : He said that he was tired.
- Tell + someone : He told me that he was tired. (On précise toujours à qui on parle).
2. Verbes + INFINITIF (to…)
- Offer : He offered to help me.
- Promise : They promised to arrive on time.
- Refuse : She refused to answer.
- Threaten : He threatened to call the police.
3. Verbes + -ING
- Admit : He admitted stealing the money.
- Deny : She denied breaking the vase.
- Suggest : I suggest taking the bus.
4. Verbes + THAT + Sujet + Verbe
- Explain : He explained that the train was late.
- Complain : She complained that the room was cold.
